Happy Halloween!

Just a quick note. I went deep in the Supernova freeroll again this week. Finished 40th. A virtual repeat of last week when I got it in good after being up and down with about 10 bb. I wish I had taken copies of a few hands this week because there have been a number of very interesting hands that have come up. Unfortunately that is about all I remember LOL. I had a strong October in general and ended up a little over $1300. I've finally started cashing in for Sunday tickets in the 5400fpp satellites. 3 in a row now so I have a few hundred in tourney money. Using that I have final tabled and cashed in quite a few 45 man $25+2 sit and gos. It has really come in handy with bankroll building. I am not going to spell my 2008 goals out yet but I am really excited about the potential for the next year! It will be another growth year for DonJPokerDonkey! Some of my goals for 2007 had to be pushed back but the most important one was met which was to go Supernova. That has and will continue to fuel the growth of what I am doing. Looking forward, November and December are going to be busy months for me with several family functions to attend. Poker will have to be fit in but I expect to be able to surpass the 13078 vpps I earned in October. Hoping for at least 15K each month. We shall see soon enough.

Tonight was Halloween and it was a lot of fun. Once I got off work and got home my wife and I took our son out Trick or Treating. He is only just about 2 years old and loved every second. Even with all the firecrackers and big kids around. Said thank yous (Kindof) and goodbyes. Knocked on doors. Climbed up all the steps to the houses. Hilarious. Plus his Mom and I are enjoying the fruits of his labour!! Totally looking forward to Christmas this year.

Playing like dirt

Really have been playing poorly the past 5 or 6 days since I made a withdrawal last week. I don't know if it is psychological or what. It just seems I am very prone to calling down way to light lately. It is not just a leak but an open faucet from my bankroll. Not to mention it makes me not want to play and so affects my vpp push this month. Very frustrating indeed.

On a good note I went quite deep in the $50000 supernova freeroll this past Saturday but coming up short in the end when with about 10 bb I called with AQ and when shoved by a big stack holding J10. He turned a full house and I was done in 32nd for $150. Disappointing finish because if I double up there I'm in the top 20 with a reasonable stack to get going with. I had been hovering around 10 bb for most of the day so 32nd was a good result but still disappointing.

One really good thing happened this week and that was a the ratification of a contract by the Steelworkers out here in BC. They ratified by half a % point which was actually a surprise as half the locals were asking them to reject the agreement made by the union executive. Close vote but it means we won't run out of fiber for our mill and we can keep running. VERY +ev for me! We were looking at losing months of work but not anymore. Other good news came down for the only stock I currently own, UEX, and it hit a 52 week high. If I can just get to playing well again it will be a really good week.

SUPERNOVA and PCA steps

I made the final push to Supernova last night around 11pm pst of the 10th. Although it took longer than I had projected I am still very very pleased with my progress this year. Slow and steady and now I am poised to remain a Supernova for a long time to come. I really felt like celebrating last night but really it is hard to explain why this means so much for my poker future. I just feel that it was a big step and it is now done. Sort of like a graduation. Of course there are many more steps to take but this one has immediate significance. For one it is semipermanent as my status is guaranteed until the end of February and beyond that is very very likely.

Anyhow that is done. Tonite I played a ton. 3500 hands and 1400 vpps. That works out to about 5000 fpps or about $80US. Plus I was up $390 for the nite so a nice score of about $470.
Definately riding a wave after going Supernova. It couldn't come at a better time either as I am destined to be laid off my job for a few weeks in the coming month as we face supply shortages. Ugg.

Last but not least Stars has instituted a step tournament format for their Caribbean adventure tournament qualifying. I rather like the format and I think it suits my style as you generally need to make the final two to move up the steps but 3 thru 5th or 6th will allow you to play again at no cost. My strength at going deep in single table shootouts will definately lend itself to my having a real shot at a low cost for a seat this year.

So far I am down one Step 1 buyin of $7 when I was coolered in a Step 3 replay. I had won my first 2 step tables and got a replay in my first Step 3 table when I was dealt QQ early in my second shot at Step 3 from the bb. Flop Q55. Played it real cool and got Samenole allin for a double up right? Wrong. Seems he flopped quad 5's in the sb no less!! GG me. Oh well. Absolutely nothing I could do there and frankly I would rather have that go down in a Step 3 satellite than any other cash table I was at at the time. Considering I turned a 6789 while holding 10 5 and only lost an extra 4.50 to a very short stack with 10J moments later and really I was feeling rather thankful. If I'm gonna get coolered that is the way to have it! Running good. Feeling good. Time for sleep. Later.

Supernova and WBOOP

This is a big week for me. I am still 1500 vpps from going Supernova but that should happen sometime Thursday or Friday. Also I plan on playing my first weekly Supernova freeroll this Saturday and if time permits to play in the WBCOOP on my birthday! That one might be tough as even though it is my birthday I am required to spend it with my family! Damn them! Just kidding honey. Ok not really. You know me so well....Love you!

Anyway I need to post a link for pokerstars to be eligible for the tourney. Unfortunately Iam a completely inept at making the link permanent. Hopefully I can post it in this post!

Texas Holdem Poker

I have registered to play in the PokerStars World Blogger Championship of Online Poker!

This Online Poker Tournament is a No Limit Texas Holdem event exclusive to Bloggers.

Registration code: 8682178

Sweet, looks like that worked. Hopefully I can figure out how to make a permanent link to pokerstars and other sites of interest in the sidebar. Will update when I go Nova. Later.
