Summer Blechs!

I was cruising along 8 tabling today. My bankroll is down to 8oo or so after I had to cash out $1500 again to cover bills. I will have to do this at least once more this year which sucks and it is so hard on the bankroll. Makes things very tight. The good thing is I have 145k fpps and building to back it up. Still 31k vpps to Supernova which looks to be coming sometime in October now unless I really pick it up....which sucks but at least I will get to it eventually. Anyway, as I was saying, I was cruising along and up about $150 today when I had some beats so I was just about even then the REALLY BAD BEATS hit hard and fast. BAM BAM. And I' down another hundred today. UGLY.

1. AA( don't so many bad beat stories start like this) in the bb. I am three bet to from the cutoff. I reraise just 2 more bets so as not to scare him off. Flop 488. Ok, yeah he could have an 8 and was trying to steal my blind but I don't think so....I'm right. I bet out $5 and he reraises to $15. He only had $51 to begin with so he is deep into this hand and I'm worried but call anyway. Big mistake. Turns a 6 and he fires out the rest of his stack. I call because now I am thinking he had an overpair which was the most likely scenario. Nope, he flopped a full boat. 4s over 8's. Ok that one is questionable. But I still think I can't be folding there. $100+pot.

2.Ok this one hurt. I'm in the bb with 88. 1 limper and sb call and I call. J 3 8 flop. Sweet. Surely I'm way ahead here. sb checks, I bet out my standard $3 looking for customers and get two calls. Hmm. Then things go bad. Turn card 3. Ok, you're thinking full house!!8s over 3's. Nuts surely....sb checks! I bet out $7, ep limper folds, and sb repops me to $20. Here we go. In the blind he could have a few different hands like A3 K3 suited etc. At least thats my hope but of course thats not what he has. No hes hit his quad 3 1 outer on the turn for fuck sake!! We get into a raising war and I get that I'm fucked arn't I feeling. I mean it doesn't matter if I try to slow it down on the turn. He gets me in of the river. Sure enough. He turns over 33 and I'm floored. Quaded again!! It's not like I have been stacking guys left right and center with set over set. No, I am getting fucked badly by some serious quad variance!! When is it my turn to quad someone. Not only that, how about some of my set over set hands hold up for some stacking!!

The bright side is that I actually played what I thought was pretty darn good poker today. BR $804. FPPS 145,222. No need to cashout until October 1st. I am really hoping that my need to cashout diminishes or even better becomes inconsequential.

Canada Day Half Year report

At the beginning of the year I gave myself 6 goals to pursue for the poker year....so how am I doing....

"I was a Platinum VIP on Stars. BR just over $3k. Up about 10k+ in my poker career. Playing .50/1NLH 4-6 multitabling.
1. Continue to build BR without withdrawing from it to over $15K in 2007
This does not look likely to happen...and in fact I have already withdrawn $1200 from my bankroll. As a consequence of financial needs I have decided to withdraw $1500 every 2 months from my bankroll. Most of that money will be coming from fpps.

2.As my BR builds to move up, 2007 goal is to be at least playing 2/4NLH(need about 12-15k ) and possibly as high as 5/10NLH(need 30k)
As mentioned I have been and will continue to withdraw from my BR this year so the likelihood of even moving to 1/2 is not very good....
3.Platinum vip on stars every month and Supernova by September
This is the goal I have put the most effort into and I have been Platinum every month except one. I am also looking to go Supernova sometime in September. I have had ups and downs and need to improve my consistency. Getting enough sleep has been a major factor in my play and the amount I play.
4.Win seat to 2007 WSOP
My effort to win a seat this year was in a word disappointing. I did not play a ton of satellites like I should have and I failed to win any DS satellites. I simply did not play enough of them. My motivation to play this year was very low due to financial consolidation and wanting to get that sorted out first before I take off to play poker on the road. In that regard this 6 months has been a big success as I have completed several home projects and brought my finances into order.
5.Update my blog with greater regularity. At least once a week.
While not successful completely with this goal, I have been fairly consistent and about 2-4 updates a month. Not bad.
6.Start using PokerTracker for crying out loud!
I have not and I am either too lazy, too cheap or have too big of an ego to think I need it.
I'm probably forgetting something...."

So those are my thoughts on my goals to start the year. I will not add any more today but may revamp them in a future post.

Happy Canada Day!!
