Sit & Go's and Selling a home

Wow. Monday was all about cleaning like we've never cleaned before. For 6 years now my wife and I have lived in a 3 bedroom subburban townhouse. 3 years ago I took a job that requires a short mountain commute and yesterday we put our home up for sale. And damn it was a lot dirtier in here than I first supposed!! Gross!! But in the end it will be worth it. We're going from 1300 sq ft up to 3400 sq ft rural with hell yeah....a .4 acre yard...woohoo!

On the poker front I have been playing Pokerstars $6 Turbo S&G's. Played just three today and finished in the money all three! 1st, 1st, 2nd! Not too bad. My regular game lately has been 1/2 limit but I have been running bad so I thought I would try the S&G. I plan on playing more of these to see how I run over a longer period of time. They do suit my style and are a pretty good way to quickly improve my tourney skills. Especially my short handed skills. I really feel I have a sizable advantage when it gets to 3 handed and heads up play. At this level anyway. Perhaps moving up I will run into better players. I have often heard that the Turbo 5 minute levels evens out the playing field but I am not sure if that is true over the long run. There really is a way to play these that maximizes your chances and I think I have hit on it. At least for now!! We will see how variance affects me! Obviously 1st, 1st, 2nd is an anomaly. How big of one is the key.... Hopefully not too much. In the coming month I will try to discuss my strategy a little more in the low limit Turbo S&G. I will also discuss playing WSOP micro rebuy satellites in order to build a WSOP bankroll at Stars to be used in later satellites. For now Im off to try a few Double Shootouts..... probably $11 DS to the Sunday $200 and the $16 WSOP DS to the $650 WSOP Qualifier.

Birth of DonJ's Poker blog

My hope for this blog is to publish my thoughts on my daily poker happenings and how it relates to the rest of my life. For over 3 years now I have been a daily presence at Pokerstars in the low NL and now Limit holdem tables. You can find me under the screen name 'DonJ'. During that time I have gradually increased my bankroll from $50 to several thousand. I love poker. But I love my family too. I work shift work in a mill which allows me to provide for my family. Poker affects my life and life affects my poker. My goal is to continue to improve in all aspects in life. This blog will primarily track my progress as a poker player , but I will also relate my thoughts on the rest of my life, from my families growth, my work, my sporting life and how it all comes full circle. How everything in life impacts each other. So....let's shuffle up and deal.
