SUPERNOVA and PCA steps
I made the final push to Supernova last night around 11pm pst of the 10th. Although it took longer than I had projected I am still very very pleased with my progress this year. Slow and steady and now I am poised to remain a Supernova for a long time to come. I really felt like celebrating last night but really it is hard to explain why this means so much for my poker future. I just feel that it was a big step and it is now done. Sort of like a graduation. Of course there are many more steps to take but this one has immediate significance. For one it is semipermanent as my status is guaranteed until the end of February and beyond that is very very likely.
Anyhow that is done. Tonite I played a ton. 3500 hands and 1400 vpps. That works out to about 5000 fpps or about $80US. Plus I was up $390 for the nite so a nice score of about $470.
Definately riding a wave after going Supernova. It couldn't come at a better time either as I am destined to be laid off my job for a few weeks in the coming month as we face supply shortages. Ugg.
Last but not least Stars has instituted a step tournament format for their Caribbean adventure tournament qualifying. I rather like the format and I think it suits my style as you generally need to make the final two to move up the steps but 3 thru 5th or 6th will allow you to play again at no cost. My strength at going deep in single table shootouts will definately lend itself to my having a real shot at a low cost for a seat this year.
So far I am down one Step 1 buyin of $7 when I was coolered in a Step 3 replay. I had won my first 2 step tables and got a replay in my first Step 3 table when I was dealt QQ early in my second shot at Step 3 from the bb. Flop Q55. Played it real cool and got Samenole allin for a double up right? Wrong. Seems he flopped quad 5's in the sb no less!! GG me. Oh well. Absolutely nothing I could do there and frankly I would rather have that go down in a Step 3 satellite than any other cash table I was at at the time. Considering I turned a 6789 while holding 10 5 and only lost an extra 4.50 to a very short stack with 10J moments later and really I was feeling rather thankful. If I'm gonna get coolered that is the way to have it! Running good. Feeling good. Time for sleep. Later.
