Holy Coolers and some general analysis

Well if I hadn't thought my hot streak was over I do now. I ran into some terrible coolers tonite. 99 with 9AA flop. Guy had limped with AK from early position and I had no idea he had that as we had both limped. It really did not matter in the end as I was destined to get stacked when he rivered his K. The worst one was when buddy slow plays AA from early position and I limp on the button with 1010. Flop comes A105 rainbow. I'm thinking, great how do I get him allin! He check calls a small flop bet from me and we are headsup. 4 on the turn and again he checks into me! I bet $6 he min cr and I come over him for $25. Of course he pushes and I'm thinking I'm good of course!! Fuck no!! Another hand saw me flop top two and the villian flops a straight in the blind. Frankly, considering the number of coolers and the lack of big hands coming my way I am ok with a loss of a buyin and a half.

Long term I am probably less bullish than I have been. Losing does that but so has some analysis of my game using PokerTracker. I have always known I was a nitty player with very rockish tendancies. However I never realized just how ingrained this style has become. I actually have quite unusual stats and I am now know how some regulars are able to exploit my weak preflop play. I have very low V$IP (volutarily Put $ In Pot) % and very low PFR (preflop raise) %. Combined with a very strong postflop aggresion factor this allows regulars to only play premium hands against me. It means I have some more adjustments to make as I start to open up my game. I need to raise more preflop and find ways to play more pots in general. In other words I need to call raises far more loosely preflop and raise more preflop. I like my postflop play generally. I am already among the most aggressive players postflop. If I can get my preflop game in order I would think that AF (aggression factor) will fall somewhat as I will not always be taking such premium hands postflop....

If I can make these adjustments successfully I might be able to make more strides in the future. Its a process as I break my game down and rebuild it up. The hard part will be doing this while playing .50/1 where so many of my regular opponents have such detailed reads on me at their disposal.

I am also going to add PAH (poker ace Hud) software to my arsenal soon as a companion to PT (Pokertracker) software, it overlays my opponents PT stats on the tables. Hopefully this will help me make better decisions as in who to raise and who to call down in tough choice situations.

Tomorrow I will be playing freerolls in the afternoon and multitabling some cash tables.
