2008 Poker Goals

1.Earn over 200000 vpps.
This is very doable. If I make it, there is a bonus from Stars worth about $1200 . This will also give me about 700000 fpps which is worth in excess of $11000.

2.Win a seat to a major tournament.
It will be interesting to see if I end up playing many satellites. This year is more about building my bankroll via the cash tables. At the least I hope to play some bigger tourneys online including the WCOOP in September.

3.Move up to 1/2NLH on a permanent basis
I would be very surprised if I end the year still playing .50/1 and I would also be surprised if I have already moved thru 1/2 by the end of the year. I will have a much better idea of where I am in a couple of months as I work thru the growing pains of the changes in my game.

4.Earn over $10000 at the cash tables this year.
I am hoping that I am being conservative with this number.

5.Build my bankroll to over $8ooo.
Anything over that I plan to withdraw at this point. I have plenty of backup in the form of fpps already. If I move past 2/4 then of course this is going to change. That however is extremely unlikely.

6.Move my career earnings over $40000
Doing the math I think this is more than doable. Currently my earnings are just under 16k. Given my fpp earnings of $11000 + $1200 bonus + at least $1500 in freeroll equity I would need to earn approximately another $10000 at the cash tables. I have to believe that is a possibility. But really, that is far from a given at this point.

7.Move from 9 tables to at least 12
This will require a different monitor setup, so at some point I will have to make some changes in this regard. 12 tabling should be very similar to 9 tabling at this point except of course I will have the opportunity to either generate more fpps or compact my play into less time.

Well, that's that. I don't believe any of those goals are particularly outlandish. In fact, other than the cash table estimate which is very up in the air all of these estimates are somewhat conservative.

Tonight I played a few thousand hands and was down just over $300 very quickly. I overplayed a couple of KK and QQ hands pre and post flop against the wrong opponents which is definately a danger at times when my mind is not focused properly. After a break, I settled in and eventually was only down about $20 after a short while. I was playing much better now. Unfortunately the cards did not continue for me and I really could do not much and I dwindled down and could not catch. Tired I stopped playing down about $200 tonight. This was my first significant loss since the 10th when I was down $169. I plan to play quite a bit tomorrow as well as maybe watching a couple videos and the Canuck game. Not likely to make There Will be Blood this week but good chance of catching an Imax on Friday. We have a yearly pass for that.
