Checking In, Horse, Razz
It's been awhile since I have posted. I really must try to get better at being consistent with this or no one will ever read it!. Poker has been well kinda slow the past couple weeks. While I've posted 6 straight winning weeks in a row now I dont have much new to report. I've been working way too much and have been pretty run down in general, trying to sell our old townhome and everything associated with that has been exhausting. Not to mention our 9 month old scootin around. On the townhome part though there is light at the end of that tunnel as we've accepted an offer on it and it should be gone by the end of the month....Wow, I getta get more upbeat!
OH wait. HORSE is coming to Pokerstars. So yes I am stoked about that! I have never played mixed games but I feel I am pretty competent in Limit Holdem up to 1/2 or 2/4 and Stud8 is my best game by far. Ive never tested it but I think I could post wins at limits above where I currently play at 1/2. Maybe quite a bit higher as I crush the Stars 1/2 Stud8 tables. Playing Stud8 should help me in Razz too. Playing some of the Pokerstars play money test tables I have found the Razz to be very soft and I've never played before but when some of these guys are chasing jq lows......well....hmm. My Omaha8 game is pretty untested but I have played it somewhat but only up to .10/.25 PL and 1/2 Limit. I should be able to hold my own in Omaha8. Stud may be a problem as I play it the least of any of the current Stars offered games. But again, I'm hoping my Stud8 experience will help me there. I'm in the middle of reading SS2 for Omaha8 and will do the same for Stud later this week and try it out.
So that is my experience with all the games. If all goes well I think I should be able to play HORSE 1/2 no problem and maybe as high as 2/4 or 3/6 depending on how strong these games play. We shall see. At the Test tables there were some pros stopping in to test it out. I played a few hands with Luca Pagano of the WPT fame. He's a young up and comer. Pretty good dude. Chatted with everyone there and then buggered off. I once played with Mike Mizrachi randomly at a 1/2 Limit HOldem short handed table. He was damn good!! We were 3 handed and pretty much crushed me! I was card dead but still....no chance.
